International Director of Operations, Corporate

*Must have freight-forwarding experience.

BTX Global Logistics is seeking a proven operations leader with a track record of success within the global freight forwarding industry. The Director of International Operations is responsible for managing the BTX Corporate business unit operations, customer service, compliance, SOPs and KPIs. The BTX Corporate offices that fall under this position include Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Newark and New York. This position reports to the VP International/VP Ocean Services and will manage an indirect staff which includes all levels of global operators handling quotes, customer service, import/export, air/ocean. Ultimately, this position will be responsible for the quality of service and profitability of the Corporate global operations teams in accordance to the company’s overall strategic goals.

BTX is seeking a driven and dynamic leader who can not only manage the tactical demands of leading the operations for the global operations unit but also possesses the leadership and communication skills required to effectively interact directly with clients (as needed); mentor, train and develop members of the organization, and serve as a strategic advisor to all operating units. The Director of International Operations will be a key member of the global management team and will interact across all organizational levels for BTX corporate business as well as have dialogue with BTX’s global-oriented franchise operations.

Duties Include:

  • Managing, coordinating, and leading a strong operations team to ensure a best-in-class operations organization
  • Creating and implementing strategic initiatives for departments
  • Creating, implementing and reporting improvement of all department KPIs
  • Creating SOP’s for all business lines/customers
  • Analyzing and improving Client Satisfaction and Operational Performance
  • Providing periodic reports to the senior leadership team
  • Coaching, mentoring and process development of team members
  • Training and development of next level leaders for each team
  • Ensuring maximum productivity and quality of teams
  • Communication of executive directives to all team members
  • Compliance functions for department in conjunction with corporate compliance department

Summary of Experience and Education Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of operations leadership experience including several years as a leader of a business unit or middle market company within the global freight forwarding or logistics transportation sector 
  • Undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline is highly preferred, however, relevant work experience will also be considered
  • Both Ocean and Air export/import experience mandatory
